Getting Funky for a Good Friend
What is Hip? promises to be a funky, fun, music-filled time at Jimmy Mak’s Friday and Saturday, as we all gather together to support Bruce Conte.
It’ll be a funky weekend at Jimmy Mak’s! Portland’s music community is coming together once again to support an artist in need: Bruce Conte, renowned former Tower of Power guitarist, who is battling Leukemia. OMHOF’s board member Rebecca Webb caught up with Bruce as he hit PDX yesterday afternoon, and had a chance to sit down with him for a few precious moments ahead of this weekend’s celebrations. Be sure to listen to her report, below. (Big nod to Mike Johnson at Mountain Air Studios on quick turn-around production. Thanks, man!)
Bruce will be playing with Soul Vaccination again, but this time the occasion is a concert & auction to help raise funds for Bruce’s leukemia treatment expenses.
Thanks to the Jeremy Wilson Foundation, established to support musicians in health crises, donations at the Friday and Saturday night events will be tax-deductible. OMHOF board volunteer Rebecca Webb will emcee, along with man-about-town, bon vivant Rob Sample.
